For our "end of
Summer" bagging events, we continued to the
warehouse provided by Ed.
This time, we were filling 425 bags for the
Tolleson, Avondale, and Goodyear Departments.
Again,
we had a great turnout of volunteers who were so
helpful as we all worked together to get the
bags filled.
On our first delivery to Tolleson, bright and
early Monday morning, we got to meet our very
first K9 Officer. The
Tolleson PD ushered us inside to deliver their
bags, and they surprised us with a very happy
puppy.
After saying hello, receiving many thank-yous,
and taking a bunch of photos, we headed to
Avondale.
We were met by members of the Avondale PD, who
helped us unload and handed out a bunch of
stickers for the kids.
Leaving Avondale, we traveled just a couple of
miles and met up with the Goodyear department.
The Chief
came out to say hello, and much to the kid's
delight (and a few of the adults too), we had
a motor officer there. Of course the kids got to
take a seat, try the lights and siren.
Before leaving, the Chief gave a gift to the
kids and adults. Coins for the adults,
and an adorable stuffed K9s for each of the
kids.
